My girlfriend came into possession of this piece of heaven on small business saturday when she went home last weekend. I got to try it today, and let me just say I have never in my life had such a baked good. I know what I want my birthday cake to be for the rest of my life. I know what I want my wedding cake to be, and I know what I want served at my funeral. Look, I haven’t always been a fan of Pennsylvania, but this cake just put it on the map, in my opinion. The soft sponginess that give way at the first fork pull is like a soft surprise, over top the butter cream that envelops your senses, washing over you as you prepare for the next bite. The toasted almonds on top are the perfect amount of crunch that pair excellently with the light crunchy sugar that make a topping like you’ve never experienced before. Then, before you know it, it’s gone, because you should have gotten more. I am a little upset I can only give this treat 5 stars, it feels wrong, because frankly it deserves more.
